    FCS Fin Plug Repair

I broke the fin loose on my Ronix Koal Board and am thinking of repairing it by putting in two new FCS's. So far I have found this video which details the repair process very well, but would it work on my Koal. I am not sure what is in the core of the Koal board? Also, does anyone know what the filler material is that they are using?

I don't know the answer to your question but I can tell you that Ronix customer service is top notch. If you send them an email or give them a call I bet they can help you out with info and/or replacement product. I was blown away by the support I got on a pair of 4 year old boots that had cracked baseplates. I sent an email asking if I could purchase the baseplates so I could repair them and use them as a spare set. They wrote back quickly asking for my address and said they would be in the mail that day, no charge.

Kelley thanks for the suggestion. I talked with Ryan today at Ronix and since the FCS's were still in the board but loose, he suggested trying to work glue in around them by removing some material or drilling small holes around the FCS so that the glue would flow in around the FCS. On this board, the router and re-seating of the FCS's is probably not a good idea.

      The adhesives he suggested are:

"Here are the two glues I suggest using. The first one is the model airplane glue. You can find the “accelerator/kicker” on that page also, that makes it dry quickly, I suggest using that if you go this route.

The other option is the Solarez.

Be sure when you are setting it, make sure the fin is in both FCS inserts so that when the glue sets, both fin inserts are lined up and pointed in the right direction. Call or email if you have any further questions.

Solarez… The nice thing about these product is it has fiberglass insided the resin/paste mixture to help make the fix job stronger. http://www.jackssurfboards.com/surf_...FYhbfgodXWUA-A
