Alright hot shots, I'm asking for advise.

Boat- 2013 SANTE 210 stock ballast

Me- 5'9" and 230, yep quite portly

I've been really killing it on my Broadcast 5'4" and it's really become a favorite for beginners and the kids too but it's met an untimely demise. Something terrible has happened to it at my hands now I need to replace it.

I'm on a budget, need an all around board that's going to work.

Any suggestions? Have a CWB Ride and no one likes it, also a Cove that's a rocket and fun 20 beers ago.

with stock ballast (NSS?) you might want to try the Inland Surfer (IS) Red Rocket or maybe the Blue Lake (I started with this and I am 200#) and I now have the Swallow v.2 -- if you add ballast (or maybe if you have NSS) you could go with the Swallow. . .those are higher end surf style boards and I think they have price point boards but maybe too small for your weight?

i'm ignoring your constraint on price for good reason. Cheap boards are cheap boards. They are cheap on construction and design.

for you, Inland Surfer Flyboy Bigboy. $700 range. Yes pricey, but you'll keep it forever.

If you like the Broadcast, and not many people do, you'll love the Bigboy. Think Broadcast with jet boosters.

It's NSS equipped and I agree with cost vs performance, when I was 3 eventing I didn't blink ordering new Goodman's every couple years.

Like turning up and down, starting to work on getting some air and 360's.

I can't find anyone else that likes that Hyperlite on line but our newbies keep gravitating to it.

Landlock sucks but it's a good all a round board Blue Lake would be my pick but 750 is hard pill to swallow for a boat board. I throw out the land lock till I see if I can trust the rider on the blue lake or even the phase 5 model x ( rarely happens). Lot of places have old stock u just have to hunt. I like med speed boards for boat boards, fast boards tend to lead to smash board noses.

I have the Hyperlite Broadcast for the beginner and most move from that to a Ronix Koal that is one of the favorites on the boat for intermediates. It's a 2010 model and I have done several repairs on it. I had to repair an FCS and one fin is now permanently attached to the board. Also had to do some edge and tip repairs. You have to handle it with care and cannot do a platform starts with it. I don't expect it to last as long as the Inland Surfer Sweet Spot Pro. So I agree with the others, save a little longer, buy quality and you will save money in the long run. Inland makes a great board.

Phase 5 trident. Hands down fav of my 6' 220lbs frame. I've ridden the inland red rocket and was not impressed. Please try a phase 5 before you make a decision you'll be glad you did

I too have had a broadcast and a Koal. The Koal only lasted a season for me before cracked & major repairs were needed. I looked around and found that phase 5 has a carbon fibre top sheet, 2 seasons on it and still looks new

Koal power tail 100%! A Little less if you like hyperlite is the shim.
