    Bruised Ribs Protection

Twice this year I've bruised my ribs. The first time I was a little sore but could ski with out pain. This second crash has me to the point where skiing, sleeping, coughing, sneezing deep breathing are all very painful. I have been skiing in a lighter weight comp vest. Can anyone recommend rib protection or a vest that would help protect the ribs. I was skiing the slalom course everyday when the body allowed it and am looking for some gear to help me along the way as I push to next level and am destined to have a few more crashes.

Been there! I used to hurt my ribs all the time when I was young and dumb and always wore a thin comp vest. Stopped that about 10 years ago and hadn't had a rib injury until this year. I wore a comp vest once because I forgot my vest, went out the front on a slalom ski and was hurting for almost a month. It was a LF Flex Comp so one of the more padded comp vests too. I feel like most comp vests leave your ribs pretty exposed. I have been using the LF Hinge for 3 years now and I really like it. It stays pretty light, has large arm holes, segmented foam and does not seem to hold me back one bit. People seem to swear by the Jet Pilot Murray being the best USCG vest around. I am going to look into that and the LF Watson USCG for my next vest but I am still very happy with the Hinge.

I use a hyperlite hatch. Love that vest and has plenty of padding.

EvoShield, I don't know how it would work with a ski, it's perfect on a foil and I could ride a wakeboard without any issues. The pads a thin enough that I didn't need to change the size of my life jacket.

I have a costochondral separation currently from a forward fall wakeskating and taking the handle in the ribs (wearing an O'Neill comp vest).
