    State 140

Does anyone have a 140 state . Today was my second time out with this board and its nice but seems very heavy or slow feelling to me, I was using the 139 sol . I'm not getting as much air which is fairly new to my beginner status anyhow :o Also I'm having challenges toeing out , I think its time for another lesson on this board .

    RE: State 140

I just got the 140 State 2 weeks ago and love it. I'm still relatively a beginner, but since I'm commited to the sport and don't use it only three times a season, its still great as I get better slowly.

What confused me was that in the shop, (one that i didn't get the board from), they had the bindings on backwards, so the extra "groove" that is supposed to make it carve better on TS was under the heel. So maybe if your having trouble carving on your toeside, the bindings could be on backwards, which is impt. now that the board isn't semetrical(sp?). I ride goofy and the "HYPERLITE" logo is in the back and I think that's correct.

I haven't ridden many other "new" boards, so I can't really compare, but I think its a great board and the cool thing is even if you're a beginner, it'll still be a great choice as long as your dedicated to the sport and continue to progress, oppose to useing it three times a season.

I ride lf foot forward and the Hyperlite logo is on the rt side or my rt foot. I was told this board would be good for toeside and heel. I had the 139 SOL which was pretty squirelly compared to this board. I like it , its probably just me

So your hyperlite logo is on the back of the board riding regular. Thing is I ride goofy and the hyperlite logo is also on the back of the board. I could be wrong, but when I got the board, I check to make sure that the extra groove for the toeside cut was under the toe of my foot, otherwise it wouldn't make any sense. The people at the shop where I got it from agreed w/ me. However another shop didn't so obviously there is some confusion.

It may just be you and I may be wrong, but I'd check to make sure the extra groove under the board is under your toe, not your heel.

hundo I was just looking at the Hyperlite catalog and now I'm all confused myself too. One shop said one thing, another shop said another, I assumed one thing, and now after reading the description of the board in the catalog I think one of the shops and me may be wrong. It talks about the groove increasing the flow of water on your heelside when you cut, not something that has to do w/ your toeside. It says the molded in fins are "thicker" on the toeside though. And, the board has a skinnier width on the heelside, which happens to be on the same side as the extra groove.

So now I'm confused and feel like an idiot--I've probably been riding my board backwards for two weeks. This would answer my question of why the board wasn't so fast carving on my heel... Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

I just changed my board but will change it back. My heel side I can carve great, I'm just having issues toeing out. One thing about this board is that it seems slow compared to other boards, but that may also be becase i'm doing about 19mph. Tomorrow I will try 19.5 to 20 and see how that goes.

I ride at about 19 also. Sorry for the confusion. I'll see what its like riding the board the right way this time, hopefully it'll be better....

I set my bindings closer to the heel edge and that made it easier to toe side for me. Before I could see the board digging in too much. Today I tried 20 and that did'nt seem too much bit that was my 4th set and I was pretty tired by then.

I have it and love it. Helped me land my scarecrow. The edge with the channel on it sould be on the heel side. Heel side also has the smaller fin.

I haven't been on the board since vaca. which was last time I posted. There I lived on the most amazing lake in the U.S. for 2 weeks. Now I'm lucky to get a full day's worth of boat a week. I've either been skyskiing or slaloming... Sorry...

I'll try to get out on the board more, I think its kinda pathetic how I haven't used it more...
