I'm just offering these as a suggestion, but they are the loudest things I've ever heard. $2800 seems high IMO - that's all. 6x9's on a tower do well, but nothing like the NVS, or the Defcon series. Try searching Wakeworld (unde boats and acessories), there's a lot of stereo discussion there.

Let's break it down

Whiplash box loaded with good speakers $800, tower amp $400, Sub & box $300, sub amp $300, install $500+, wiring $100, & lights???

I like the whiplash boxes, sonically and economically plastic is the best enclosure material, too bad most guys need more bling, and go with fiberglass... Are you getting the lights too? I don't recommend lights as they are not that useful. The power going to the tower is very important, run a dedicated high quality high power amplifier, sub should get it's own amp too, make sure you put chokes on the boat speakers so they don't distort in the bass range.

NVS utilize soundstage components designed to project music to the riders, www.nvs1.net. Best in the business, if you can afford them. I might recommend package #3. Also check out www.teamneptunes.com, they are having a 4 - 6x9 tower box sale right now $280 box only.

With LoudLiquid, I was also considering the 2-speaker system - Adrenaline
but, keeping everything else the same.

My son wants the lights ... not that I like driving around on ANY lake in the dark, but it has happened (several times). We've been getting into houseboating and not everybody can get there on time and we end up picking them up at the marina ... having to boat-back to the marina IN THE DARK ... Don Pedro Lake at 10:00 in the evening is a VERY DARK PLACE.

I get bass distortion with the Fusion's. I think it has to do with the quality of the source. I seems that some songs on my MP3 player or a burned CD of my computer files has the most distortion. Most of the CD's I ripped to the computer were at 96kbs or maybe 128kbs. I think an original CD plays fine, but I haven't yet tested this theory with the same songs that play badly on MP3 player.

What's your oppinion and what is a "choke"?

I disagree, not 100%, but enough to make it worth buying. This time I know what I'm talking about. We also have the Fusion Tower Lights (4) and when its pitch black out and we are docking, they come in EXTREME handiness. I think how did I ever dock before w/o these. If there is flood lighting where you dock, its no big deal, but if you are in the middle of nowhere, they suddenly throw a crap load of candlepower at the shore and light up everything in sight. They are also good for sighting bouys at night. If you can't see one, like a danger bouy, just turn the lights on and the reflector on the bouy will pick it up immediately.

However, when cruising, the lights are only good for signaling and looking cool. They do not light up the water going fast. In fact, when cruising, they only make it harder to see. But when it comes into docking, esp. in shallow, narrow areas, w/ a lot of mooring bouys, they are extremely helpful and almost a safety feature. I would get them again if I had to. Docking lights get the same job done.

Yeah good point I forgot that, thanks. Also for doing that, reverse lights on the trailer really light up the water.

The tower lights shine on the bow brightly, makeing your eyes hard to adjust to the dark. If given the option, I would go for the hull lights.

It's no secret, I just don't like tower lights, I feel that they cause more troubles than they solve. You would be surprised how well you can see at night if there is any moon at all once you let your eyes adjust. The tower lights prevent your eyes from adjusting, dash lights too.

For you and your dad,
Chokes limit the frequencies that your speakers produce. If you have a dedicated amp on your Fusion tower speakers and it has a built in crossover set it in high pass mode and set the frequency at 100 or 150hz. If not then put a 100uF (microfarad) capacitor inline to each speaker, that will help eliminate your distortion and allow you to turn the Fusion's louder in the range where they make music. I don't recall if you have a sub?

Today - I can honestly say "I know more today then I did yesterday about Tower speaker systems, subs for boats, amps for boats, lights and pricing".

I have not made any decisions yet .... research - ask - research ask .... never enough research and never enough asking .... I am not in any rush ... I want what's the best for me, my boat and my family (not in any particular order - heh-heh).

I must say, there are some really nice systems out there.

Ask for references .... any GOOD/REPUTABLE business has 'em
