    216 Wakesurfing... Possible?

My family just got a new wakesurfboard for the first time. I've used a friend's on his 210 TE a couple times before and is our new thing. This board we got is pretty small, but I tried it out behind our boat (Air 216 TE), loaded up one side of ballast (only 200 lbs.) and moved everybody to that side and just couldn't get a hold on the wake. It just didn't seem possible w/o an extra 1000 lbs. or so.

Does anyone wakesurf behind a DD? Is it possible, or should I just stick w/ my friends 210?

Load it up!!! We surf all the time behind my boat. We add quite a bit of extra weight, but it kicks up a pretty good wave. Check my link.

A buddy of mine has a 216 and we have the smae problem. Need lots of xtra weight to get a decent wake to surf on.

Make sure you are putting all the weight on the right(starboard) side. Due to prop rotation that is the side that will have the best wake. At the minimum you will need to have a sac in the rear locker and the starboard tank full. I usually run with 1000lbs of ballast and at least 500lbs of people for wake surfing.

gotpwr, what if he surfs regular (left foot forward)? Anyways, wouldn't the reverse rotation cause the port side of the boat to sink easier?

I surf left foot forward and surf with my heels into the wake when I surf behind my boat. When I surf behind my friends X2 we surf on the port side, and I ride with my toes into the wake. I tried surfing on the port side of my boat when I first started to surf back in '03 and could never get a decent wake on that side of the boat. I always heard it was due to prop rotation. Maybe with enough weight you can get a decent wake on that side, but I haven't tried it recently.

Ride heels in or learn to ride switch. I do both. It's not that hard. We keep the front locker sac (~400#) full, both stock tanks, 2x500# sacs on the starboard side, plus people. Works great.

I go goofy, but will probably be using it behind our friends 205V (X1) so I guess I should learn to ride heel through wake on his boat...

The wake on my SS is definitely better on the starboard side, but we have a surfable wave on the port side as well. Definitely not as good, but surfable.
Ummm, I\'ll take the REAL 210 please. Thanks.
