    Course Length

When putting up a slalom course, how much space of the lake should you designate for it? How many feet long and wide should be taken account for, the dimensions basically...

    Thanks

    RE: Course Length

Here's a link to the usa waterski site that has the official course dimensions. http://www.usawaterski.org/pages/div...omp.Sldim.html
As a general rule I think you'd want to have a piece of lake about 2000' long and about 200' wide. I've skied on some man-made lakes that are only about 1800 feet and it's real tricky to get the boat up to speed and lined up sometimes. Hope this helps you out. When scouting for lakes, I usually use google earth and the measuring tools they have to figure out if my course will fit.

        RE: Course Length

I don't know if this will help or not but there is a file you can download and open in Google earth that will put place markers on tournament waterski sites. You could check those out as a reference.
The file is availiable at this web site...

If nothing else it's just fun to look at.

I've been on lakes where I thought the setup was too short, and even one lake where all they had room for was a four bouy course, but I don't know any of the lake's lengths. I wish I had asked.

Minimum lenght: 1700 feet, minimum width : 130.
But you would need to stop after each pass. I think pj is right with the 2000 - 200 feet as general rule.
