Ski Course

I'm looking for opinions on a permanent water ski course. Wallycourse, Accusink, others, etc. We have a large group that will help cover the costs and want something easy for anyone to maintain but yet indestructible at the same time. We are tired of patching together a 20 year old course that is half rope and steel. The mainline, diamonds, PVC will stay in the water all year and we would like to just remove the bouys and bout cord at the end of the season. This will be on a public lake and it would be good if anyone of the core slalom maintenance group moves on to allow for new comers to be able to take over course maintenance and keep the sport alive at the lake.

We made our own with PVC, and stainless steel cable and eyelets. Our biggest cost on a public lake was the bouys. People kept running over them.

We have 3 permitted ski courses on three public lakes with our club, and they are all ez slalom courses. If our water wasn't as deep as it is I'd rather have an individual anchored course, where each buoy has its own anchor and sub buoy underwater, that is how most or all private sites are. These are usually surveyed for accuracy.

We have had really good luck with our courses, but just like anything they will need some work to keep them going. We try to keep extra balls, sections of cable,cable clamps, and rope for repairs, and we will occasionally come out to ski and find that we end up spending our entire ski time repairing damage. We try to educate the wally's and try to keep the pwc's out, but it isnt going to happen on a public lake. We are looking to add some floating no wake signs or bouys to the cove entry on one of our courses this year, and hopefully it will help some.
