Anybody having problems with the binding screw inserts on a Mapple ski? Went to remove my front binding and 4 inserts came out of the ski with the screws. Can they be epoxied back in? Spring is around the corner.

RE: binding screws
I haven't been here in a while and am surprised to see no one has answered your question. I've been out of the ski thing for a long time and do the wakeboard thing. I would see NO reason why you couldn't epoxy those lil' fellows back in place. Don't know if they are threaded ( like helicoils) or potted inserts. If they are helicoils, I'd lube my screw with vasoline then screw the helicoil back on, put epoxy in the hole or on the helicoi, reinstall, and remove the screw.
If it is a potted insert then put it back in the hole, put a piece of clear tape over it to hold it in place. Mix your epoxy then fill a syringe with it. Cut 2 small slits 180' from each other on opposite sides of your insert. Start pumping your epoxy until it starts to come out the other hole. Let it set up then remove your tape. You should have a smooth surface and no or minimal sanding. Just make sure you don't get epoxy in the insert or your "screwed". Hope this helps. If you can't do it in, on, or behind a Nautique..... It just ain't worth doing!

RE: binding screws
If it's a fairly new ski, I'd take it back where you bought it. I've found most of the shops to be really good about getting a warranty replacement. If it's more than two years old, I've also had the shops make me an at cost deal on a replacement. Just a thought.
Kudos to Morfoot for looking through the unanswered posts. Good to see folks offering help when others ask. BKH2001 Super Air
