Fly High Pro X ballast fitting help needed

Has anyone ever used a 3/4 pvc pipe fitting in the pro x bags. I would like to use a 3/4 thread to 1" barb 90 degree fitting so that my hose is laying on the bag rather than pointed up towards the underside of the hatch, but would rather avoid quick fittings if possible. As I understand... the issue is that the bags are nps and the normal pvc fittings are npt. Anybody know for sure if the answer is yes or no?

Why do you want to avoid the W743/W746 setup?

Why not just get the 90 elbow to the quick connect.

I was really just thinking it would eliminate a connection. My thought with water is that I really don't want to use the additional connector if it can be avoided.

Those connectors are rock solid. I have never had one leak Everton pice of mind Fly High recommends using bevy duty pvc cement on the threads to lock it in. If you ever change you mind, just heat up the fitting with heat gun and it will warm the glue and you'll be able to pop it right out.

If you want a more permanent seal use 3m 4200 on the threads.

Swat... I'm more worried about the pop on connector. I'm thinking I dump ballast and throw jackets on that sac and there's a chance that pop collar would get knocked loose. Then next time I turn the pump on I'm flooding the bilge. How solid is that slide down locking connection?

These connectors are very reliable. I deal in a couple hundred a year and failures are rare.

The collars that lock them into place have never come loose. I store surfboards, jackets, and wakeboards in there constantly. Never ever had one break loose. I also pop my bags in and out quite frequently to let my compartments air out. Never had an o ring go bad either on the Fly High fittings. The Sumo sac fittings though I had some issues. The Fly high ones seal nice and tight. Ultimately it's your call, but I am of the belief these seal exceptionally well.

MLA I am sure has done way more ballast installs than me, but I have never had one issue with leaking , dripping , or seapage from any Fly High fitting. They seal very tightly.

Would you guys suggest the W743/W746 combo on both the fill and drain ports in a impeller pump ballast system? I'm going to use the 705 (580) in the ski locker and the 707s (750) in the rears on my 99 SSN.

I always use a 90, like the W746 for a top fitting. For lower fitting, it really depends on the boat, the orientation of the sac, port locations, etc. On a boat with a bulkhead wall that boxes in the locker, I like the W741 straight and put it through the bulkhead. On boats with open locker, then use the 90 and let the hose fallow around the gunwale to the pump, etc.

I have the 90 deg pipe fittings, put an O ring on them and some Teflon tape and there fine
The only thing I don't like is having to take the hose off the barbed end they tend to stick to the rubber hose
