Storeyourboards.com Surf Board Wall Rack Review

I was looking for something to store my boards on the wall in my garage when not in use and I came across these guys.

Their standard wall rack is a 4 spot rack and then you can add additional spots to this. I added a fifth to my configuration. My total cost was about $90.

During installation, I was already regretting my purchase. The rails that you mount to the wall are much too narrow and flimsy and the arms you mount off these rails are even worse. Additionally, when I tried to install the arms, it was difficult to impossible to mount them near the mounting screws on the rails - there is a design issue with this. This limited where I could mount the arms and preventing me from being able to mount all the arms on the rails (I could only use 4 spots).

Long story short, I'd avoid this one. I sent it back. I suspect the return will be processed without any issue.

Anyone have any pictures of board racks for the garage that they created? I built one out of black iron pipe, but it turned out to be $150 in pieces. I think I will disassemble and return that one too. I'm thinking 1" PVC might work too.

I built one from rope, 3/4" pvc, and some foam that hangs from ceiling. Will try to get a pic for you. I had the pipe foam but cost was about $20 from Menards

For those who are looking for a solution... I went with a folding bike rack and it works great! I did a lot of research of pvc designs and liked this the best. Got mine at Lowe's but they look like this

I have three of the storeyourboard racks. I didn't seem to have the issues you had. I will say if you really tighten the rails down snug it can get the rail so close to the wall that seating the bracket arms in the slot is difficult. I just backed my screws out one turn or so and it allowed the arms to seat properly. Rails were still snug against the wall. Also its a good idea to use a rubber mallet to seat the arms. They worked for me. I thought they were a little pricey but I figured it would save me the time of building something on my own. I can never seem to build something without a multiple trips to Home Depot and thats an hour and half run from my lakehouse.

Had this rack for a few years no issues, no marks on boards, there's even a wake board hidden in there

Not having fresh photos but I’ve done mine by myself. My present is the wooden one (I’ve put some foam cover over the arms now)
and my previous was in pvc. Works great since almost a decade
