Wish I'd seen that 2 days ago. Ordered a D3 X-5 on Monday. Oh well, at least with the performance guarantee I'm only out $40 if I don't like it.

We did not test the X5. Only the Nomad. You did make a good choice in the X5. Awsome ski.

            Very very very interesting.
            Thank you very much.

Are you going to change your Monza after the test, Mark?
I'm very happy with it and I would like to keep it for a few seasons more.
Here in Europe everybody is talking about the Fischer, what a shame they didn't bring a ski to the test.

We tried to get a Fish, but no go. I am keeping my Monza. This will be my 3rd summer on it.
If I had to choose, and there was no Monza, it would be the F1. But I think I could like the 9700, if it had any build quality at all.

Mark, I've been skiing on 04 HO Truth w/Double Approach for the past season and1/2. Will I notice a night and day difference between that and my new X-5? I've been tweeking the fin and wing on the Truth like crazy and still can't consistantly finish a turn with enough angle to be early on my off slide. Before that I had a CDX and loved it! I should have never believed the "Truth" hype! I'm hoping the X-5 is a keeper. I'm 6ft 195 skiing @32mph 22off on a 67.5. I really want to get to the next level!

I never had a chance to ride any of the phantoms or truths as a was anti HO at the time. (for no good reason) I do know that the CDX was the best ski HO made until the Monza. From what people tell me. The truth and the X5 will be differant, so give it some sets. Are you putting your Approaches on the X5? It sounds like you bought the right size ski. Denny Kidder skis have a good reputation of being skier friendly and large sweet spots. Easy to turn. The quickest and easiest way to get a bigger ball count is quality lessons. Get your ski set up at factory settings, and work from there.

I've been an HO hater due to several years back i had one and the tail drug so bad i couldn't get the boots far enough forward to get off the back of the ski. Have they change Mark?

Mark, yes I'm going to mount my Approach boots on the X5. I ski with my local club at a private ski lake and have had some very good(38@36mph)skiers give me input. I'm planning a trip to Gordan Rathbun's Ski Accapulco next fall. Can't wait for that trip!

Mark, got on my new X5 for the first time this morning. What a truly awesome ski! Right out of the box it was a rocket! I need to do some fine tuning for my offside turns, it tends to dive a little but cross course angle, speed and stability are amazing! I've been skiing on HO skis for 20 years and this X5 just blows my mind(of course I've never skiied on a Monza)! Anyone who is looking for a new stick, give the D3 X5 a shot!

I've noticed two members on here now cutting the rope @ 32 mph. I don't quite understand this concept. I can see cutting @ 34 mph to practice 36. Maybe I'm just not in the know as I thought.

I can make my 15off pass at 34mph. I'm still working on the 22. Right now I'm completing the pass at 32mph but haven't made a full pass at 34. I always tank around 4ball. We're not all the pro level skiers that you are Hollywood!
