    Life jacket storage

I am wondering what others life jacket stratgies are. I keep my boat on trailer at the lake.

I have a good collection of Hyperlight jackets from Costco but storaging all jackets in the boat takes up quite a bit of room.

While I love the Hyperlights, they tend to be a fairly specific fit and storing them all in the boat takes up quite a bit of room.

I'm trying to think of a better strategy then keeping a boat full of life jackets.

I'm thinking of getting a more generic jacket (one size fits many to keep as spares in the boat and then pick the jackets for the day depending on who I expect to come to the boat.

I wanted to see what others are doing.

8 orange "legal minimum" life jackets always stay onboard our 210 stuffed under the bow seating and under the passenger console. Our pontoon has a dozen of the orange jackets stowed onboard. We keep a variety of much nicer life jackets on shore in a dock box to be used on the Nautique or the jet skis needed. Some seldom used anymore toddler and kid sized jackets are stored in the basement storage area in the house.

We also have a collection of life jackets in another "guest" box. They just show up when teenagers can't remember to bring their own jackets home, or transfer them from other boats when rafted up, etc. The guest box also has a pile of flip flops, sandals, shorts, and sunglasses.

We have given up on keeping our towels segregated from those other beach towels left behind. They all get laundered and kept in another bin by the back door of the house by the steps going down to the lake.

Get a large Sharpie. Put your last name and phone # on your life jackets.

For us the problem was that I live an hour away from our lake and wouldn't always know exactly how many people were going to be on the boat and what they wanted to bring. We are also a family of 6 so our vehicle is pretty full before we start adding in boat stuff. Our solution to this ended up being getting a storage locker near the lake. This helped with the life jacket problem and with other equipment. Any used jackets come home and get washed.

For towels we use Kikoys/turkish towels which are thin towels. These are much thinner then a regular towel so you can store 10 where you would normally have 2 or 3 regular towels. They work really well for drying and also dry pretty quick when hung up.from the tower.
