    Monza skiers - need help

New monza (70" with stock settings). Problem is during the pull-out/glide, the ski seems squirrely, like it needs to be on edge and won't ride flat. Other than that, it skis great. I'm comming from a Phantom & CDX, and neither handled like this.

Is this normal or should I mess around with boot/fin adjustments?

I changed to an HO System 8 this season (same configuration as the Monza) and I had the same squirrely sensation the first few times out. It was also losing grip on both on-side and off-side turns. I left the fin at the factory settings and moved the bindings rearward one hole, and now it skis great.

I to have a System 8 and am having a ruff learning curve with it. I was all over the place for the first 4 or 5 times out this year. Obviously by now you realize that ski's like the Monza and the System 8 are not ment to run flat or just sit still behind the boat. That huge 15" sweet spot under your front foot is the reason for the squrrely feeling. Make sure and keep your hands at waist level and really get a feel for putting it on its edge. You have to push these types of ski's hard to get out of them what it is you are looking for. I too would leave to fin setting stock unitl you are pulling some pretty short runs, but agree that moving you binginds around a bit might help given you specific habits. Ruff open water is yet another factor.

That ski should not hunt. You need to make your fin longer, or add tip depth- however you want to think of it. Start in increments of .010" and ride it to see if that makes a difference, then repeat if needed.
