    Acme 856 or Acme 1578 - So there's a question here

My eyes are crossed reading all the posts on this subject. Current boat - 2000 SAN, owned one year. Love it. Last owner replaced factory prop with the Acme 1578. Man it works great for wake surfing and wake boarding. It's a grinder. Honestly not sure i would switch it out. (Current setup - Not too heavy on ballast, two 400# in rear, one in locker I don't often use, one in bow I think is 300#).

But here's the ask - I want to cruise, maybe just a beer run and get from the dock to a decent cove after work and have time left to wake. Could i get a great prop for wake and still get a bit more top end? Right now top end is 32-34 ish with high RPM. Pretty much the norm from what I've read. Would the 856 step down a little and get more top end or do I sacrifice too much in wake performance. Can anyone tell me top end or close for the 856?

I have the 1616 which is still recommended for a weighted boat. The 1578 was one step above mine for a REALLY heavy weighted boat. With the 1616 I still top out around 40-41. If I were to run across the lake I can comfortably cruise around 33-35 without feeling like I am abusing the boat.

We just had this conversation on the Nautique Facebook page. I stand corrected on my previous comment. The 1578 is not one step above the 1616 like I was thinking. The 2570 is the heavy weight or high altitude prop. It is a 14” diameter prop with 12” pitch. The 1616 is also 14” prop but 13.75” pitch. After looking at the size of pitch of the 1578, I’m really surprised you are rapped out under 35... Did you ever call Acme by chance?
