    Slingshot Nomad

Has anyone ever rode one before. I'm 6'4 200 and 37 years old, currently riding a 2017 Byerly ARII. I enjoy the board but as I age the sport is getting difficult to continue. One fall and I'm hardly moving for 3 days Only doing 180's and grabs with fear of falling. I'd like to progress a little further and was curious with my size if this is a better fit?

Ha, I hear and wish I could get a rush from surfing but it just seems boring compared to wakeboarding or slalom. However the Falls do hurt a lot less which I can appreciate!

Most would agree that advanced wake boarding is pretty exciting to watch. But watching a beginner wake board is pretty boring to me.
I think the same can be said for surfing. If you take the time to understand the possibilities of surfing you will see that it is not boring at all.
        For example see:

Finally, Surfers are all not wearing knee braces at 25 and looking forward to advanced arthritis at 50!
Surfing can offer a family oriented, exciting challenge for a lifetime.

        Good luck.

I would agree. I used to be a three event tournament skier and with age and injuries I only surf now. As I progressively improved learning new tricks, I have enjoyed it more plus it is more family oriented.

Sorry, wasn’t trying to change this to an surfing vs wakeboarding thread . I do surf and just love being on the water. My lake is on the smaller side hence why I get bored going in a small circle. I can see the joy of riding for miles on a larger wake or River.

I think any board will land softer than that AR2. I’ve ridden one once and it definitely had that stiff feel off the wake pop wise and was definitely one of the roughest landing boards I’ve ridden. I think the carbon/Kevlar used in the construction stiffens that board up a good bit hence the rough landings.

Head over to Wakeworld, and you'll find some decent info on the Nomad - a few threads covering it in the wakeboard section. Another big board is the newer Murray which is probably a little more performance oriented/stiffer than the Nomad. Otherwise, Slingshot has a few other boards out in addition to the Nomad that are 150 cm or longer.

I’m still on the hyperlite relapse. It’s been a joy to ride. The Murray is a great board like said above and it definitely has pretty soft landings.

I haven’t gotten into the entire long long boards yet but I’ve heard some positive things from those who have “sized up”
