    Hyperlite wakeskate issues

I bought a Scape in June and by the end of the month it started to split along one of the wood layers. I took it back to the place I bought it and they said they'd order me a new one but I could use this while I waited, because it was still usable.

I said great and went on my way. 2 weeks later I hadn't heard anything from them so I stopped in to check on it. They said they were on back order and they'd call me. Now, a month and 10 days since I dropped it off I still haven't heard from them. I went back in today to ask about it and one of the guys in the shop said Hyperlite still has them on back order. He also said a lot of the employees at Hyperlite have left, like Herb O'brian and the company might be in a tiz.

I think I'm going to write a letter to them asking what's going on, but I thought I'd ask if anyone of you had any insider info.

    Thanks.

    RE: Hyperlite wakeskate issues

Herb bought back Radar Lake, took off with 4 top pro's (Parks, Harf, Sharpe, Copeland?)and who knows how many employees and started a company called Ronix. Thus far we have seen one board and bindings setup.

Get another nice skate and maybe you will get another one from Hyperlite, maybe not.

I Had the exact same experience with a scape 112....started to delaminate/split/peel apart after the very first session. My dealer said he'd sent back 4 or 5 skates back to HL this summer... luckily he gave me a board off the shelf to use until mine gets waranteed.

I bought the Catalyst 112. When i picked it up they only had a 116 so they gave that to me and said they would call when the 112 came in. 2 weeks later i got a call the 112 was in and we just swapped. No problems with anything and service I got was top notch.

Also, most companies aren't sending out any more '06 product, they are getting geared up for '07. If you are lucky, they have a board still in stock, otherwise you are going to have to wait until at least October for a new '07 board.
