A 206 is a nice boat. The hull is very close to the 196 so slalom skiing should be outstanding. More room and convenience compared to the 196. You won’t be sorry...

Sorry...no input on the tower boom. I use a BFI in my 196 with no tower. Works well.

I have an '04 206. It's been great for the family and works well for everything we like to do. Slalom wake is great for us as we free ski exclusively. 32-off/34 mph is my sweet spot. I also foil and the kids wakeboard and surf a bit, but we do not mess around with extra weight. If we have enough people on the boat my youngest can just barely let go of the rope. We have also used a boom but have a Samson tower. It is a straight Barefoot Int'l mounted to the pylon. I imagine its a lot easier to set that up than hanging over the side for a tower boom. If the tower leg is in the way you could always rotate the mounting bracket a hair to avoid it. The only downside is remembering its there so you don't smash your knee on it.

I have a 206 with the factory FC tower and am using the Barefoot International bent boom. Boom side mounts out the passenger side with the boom arm just in front of the rear tower leg. You could mount the arm aft of the tower leg if you wanted. This boom - it only has one mounting hole on inner arm (I've seen some with two holes allowing more rotation options) - won't fit on the driver side. Our primary use is teaching kids to ski, not footing.

Currently not using a boom height adjuster...I'm able to get enough up/down height via moving the block on the pole. If you want the boom super high, you may need the height adjuster option as the block hits the motor box at some point.

I purchased this boom used and i think I would have purchased the straight boom if I had found one or was buying new. Lane Bowers at the Footers Edge is a wealth of knowledge and very helpful. As I was exploring a new boom, he made this page to help me understand options. Sadly, my level use didn't justify a new boom setup.

What he said about the tower boom as that a) they work great and b) there is no way to put them on in the middle of the lake. You have to be on shore.

        Hope this helps!

Edit: BTW, you'll love the 206 as a ski boat. My prior boat as a 97 Ski Nautique 'bubblebutt' and it's not as good as that boat but is sure a helluva lot more useable. Tons more room in the cockpit and with the open bow. Skis close to the 97 as long as you don't load it up with people and gear. When we are doing serious skiing we'll try to run it with < 1/2 tank of fuel and punt out all the kids and lookie loos. Keep it to a skier, driver and observer for best results.

Our boat has the tournament seat observer option...highly recommended if you have boat choices.

Thank you for your excellent comments and suggestions. If you're ever in Ohio, message me for a pull. Had two great footin mornings this week, the traffic is finally clearing off the lake. Water temperature is down to 65 and that chased the jetskis off
