    HO trainer ski question

The little black clip on the rope for HO HotShot training skis broke and HO says you have to buy the whole rope ($44) just to get a new clip. Anyone have a cheaper solution to that?

I don't see why you couldn't get something at a big box store that will work. They are probably telling you that due to liability. I can not see there being an issue as its a 'handheld rope system'..

Did you try contacting HO customer service? That's where I would start...

HO said the whole $44 rope package to get the clip. I asked them if there was a workaround and they wouldn't commit to anything

I'll give a little tip on using those trainer skis. Place a little weight on the rear of the ski so the rear sinks and the fronts float. Makes them easy to control while sitting in the water and while getting up. I removed fin screw and replaced it with a longer screw though an approximately 1.5# piece of flat lead on the back of each ski. You may also be able to purchase a kit online.
