    New Dock Options

Just curious if anyone has fallen in love with and dock brand/set-ups. Had wood for years and ready to move on. Neighbor has a Floe dock which is nice but figured I should be looking at all options.... With that being said I'm in sticker shock so far!

We installed a full Pier Pleasure dock set up and hoists for our 2020 GS22 and our 1936 Chris Craft and we’re really happy. Being up in Northern Wisconsin we need to pull our docks and hoists in every season and after 8 years these things are pretty much bullet proof.

We have EZ dock floating sections and love it. Very stable to hang out on, takes the pounding wakes like a champ and you can leave it on the water in the winter as long as you don't have significant ice shifting. Our lake completely freezes over in the winter and it's been fine every spring.

Yeah, it’s a pain, but when your lake looks like this from November to May, pulling your hoist and docks up onto your lawn is a necessary annual ritual up North!

Do you do this yourself or do you have it done? I can imagine a nice little cottage industry servicing lake owners...

We’ve got a guy ….. same guy that my brother in law across the lake uses for his docks. And you’re right, it’s a pretty nifty business model for them: First they sell you the docks and hoists, then they do the seasonal install & removal. Most of the folks on our lake with small fishing boats and cedar docks tend to do this themselves, but since we’ve got a bigger set up and live 300 miles away from our lake home we’re more than happy to have these guys do all of this for us. And these guys are pros. They use a barge with a hydraulic crane to lift and place this hoists and they take good care of us. Here are a few pics from last summer when we upgraded our hoist for our 2020 GS22 where you can see how these guys operate.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. Up here in the PNW everything stays in year round so it's interesting to see what others do.

Are you interested in a floating dock or a bottom mounted doc? Probably get better recommendations if you share a bit more on what you need....
