Another vote for Broadcast. We also have a Happy Pill that is well liked for the way it tracks.

I own a shim , broadcast , Doomswell Neo and Doomswell bandwagon. If you’re looking for a great mid range non beginner board the Neo would be my recommendation. It’s a stable fast nosed that is good balance of everything. the quad fin setup allows a lot of versatility. I’ve also heard great things about their new Falcon .
as far as speed of the Neo be a Soulcraft. It’s an unfair generalization due to the fact Soulcraft is not usually a mass produced sos. Board and most have tweaks for personalization. Rockers , rails , channels , width all are customizable. A Neo is very fast. Can it be faster than an SC yes. Can it be slower , yes. But in the generalization of wakesurfers the Neo is in the fast side.

A big fan of Phase 5 also, I ride the Key and Matrix mostly but from an all around standpoint I think P5 Hypsta is a great all around board. Has a ton of float and is pretty fast. I have friends 220 plus riding my 50 inch and they love it and they’re having to work to ride it.

Not sure if you're still looking but I just saw this post and I went through the same thing trying to find the right boards when we first started. I have taught about 25 friends and family to surf and this is what I've learned.
Aside from brands, I would make sure your boards the size for your surfers - each manufacturer will give a length and weight capacity. I would definitely have a board for riders under 120lb (kids). We have a skim style Phase 5 for that purpose.
Surf style boards are more buoyant and my experience is that it is easier than a skim style board for learning. We've had good experiences with the Hyperlite Quad surf style boards ( Similar in shape to current "Time Machine" model) for under 200 and over 200lb. riders. The surf style boards also have up to 4 fins and minimize the tail washing out for new riders - great for traditional surfing turns. We also have Phase5 hammerheads. They're skim style boards and are a good intermediate rider boards.
For more experienced riders and our family favorite is the Phase 5 Diamond. It is expensive but it is carbon fiber (very light and lively) but fast and great for tricks - Ollie's, Shuv's, 360's.
Hope that helps...

Sorry for the delayed response. Been getting ready for the season. Great responses from all and will check some of them out and maybe see if I can get some demos. I agree with Bobc993 that we need to have some boards based on size. I have the marshmellow and two different size shims. Those are great for the beginners. Looking for that next step up board. Maybe I will try the Phase 5 Diamond. Thanks again for all the feedback

charlesml3 I am looking to get the liquid force keen skim style board. I currently ride a blu surf surf style board and I'm trying to decide between the 56" and 60". I am 6'2 225lbs. Do you think I can get away with the 56"?

I spent the summer learning on a 4'10" Connelly Katana (older, I think) and at times a 4'8" Doomswell Nubstep. I'm 6' 255 lbs and the Connelly was decent but I really had to push to get speed out of it. Great board to learn on. I LOVED the Nubstep. It was fast, didn't require as much effort to gain speed, but I also didn't get to use it the second half of the season after I got much better.
All that said, my friends are partial to Doomswell boards. They have several. I just ordered the 5'0" white 2022 Doomswell Nubstep, and I'm really looking forward to trying it out based on my experience using my friend's 4'8" Nubstep. Planning to do a wakesurf session down in FL here in a few weeks so I'll be taking it with me to try out for the first time.

Huge sale at Doomswell right now. I thought I got a great deal on a 5' Nubstep from evo.com a couple weeks ago. But should have waited and saved $200.

For sure. I was going to call Doomswell and see if they'd match Evo. Probably would have told me to wait and order during the sale. Oh well…
Anyways. I'd highly recommend the Nubstep. And I haven't ridden it, but one of my friends got the Falcon halfway through summer and really likes it (he stopped bringing his Nubstep out in favor of the Falcon).
The Bamboo models fit/finish are way better than the white, FYI. Worth the extra $

What's interesting about boards, wake & surf, everyone has their goto (hope I'm not repeating someone here). My wife loves her board, it's too greasy squirrely for me, adult kids have their goto's. My son could ride a 2x4 and make it look good. We are kinds of partial to Ronix, followed by Liquid Force in the board arena.
We have a boat shop here that Demos (rents) boards, I was thinking of running their whole gambit one at a time next Summer to make sure I'm not missing out on the bomb board. I will say those Doomswell boards look super sexy, and that does seem to be a reasonable take a venture price. Your opinions seem to be favorable here also, thanks. If anything else it will look good on the shop wall, lol.
