    DrySuit

Hey guys I'm looking at buying a drysuit, and i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on a certain one to get. I know there were other topics about drysuits, but nothing that fit my description totally. Basically I barefoot and wakeboard, and i was wondering which suit would be the best for both of these, toughness for barefooting, flexibility for 'footing. As of right now I'm looking at the Seipel baggy drysuit, because it seems like it might be the best for my uses, but ill take any suggestions. I'm not looking to spend alot as I'm only 21 and have college to pay for, but I'd like to get one and lenghten my season maybe by a month earlier in the beginning and a month later at the end.

Thanks in advance for your help,

    Nate

Seipel is the man and you can't go wrong with one of his suits. Adrenaline Watersports have good deals, and Scarpa will build you any color any size almost but you will pay.

One more plug for Seipel's BI drysuit. Has anyone tried a Barefoot Co. drysuit?

I have a barefoot company drysuit and a BI drysuit. Both are great. The BI is a 1990 model and has the original leg and arm seals. 17 years old, and the material is all still watertight and pliable. You heard that right. Can't go wrong with the BI. Well worth the money.

Has anyone noticed any sort of difference in the bag style vs. the neoprene style? like while barefooting & sliding on your butt or back after you let go, does it slide well? Thanks for all the input thus far.

If anything, the bag has much more slide to it than a standard barefoot suit.

                Nate,

I have a BF2000 drysuit from Barts, it is the bag style. It is the first drysuit I have ever owned or used and it works well. I bought an XL size and it fits my wife and I both, although a little baggy on her.

I usually layer fleece pants and jacket and a base layer (kind of like snow skiing) underneath and it keeps us warm in water temps in the 40's. Hands and feet get cold first.

The BF2000 has velco straps that tighten down over seals around ankles and wrists, after a number of sets, you are damp inside but not wet.

When I bought the drysuit, I included rubber booties that Barts sold. don't waste your money. they filled with water in about 2 seconds and were a nightmare to get on ski binding while wearing.

I just received my Suit from Ski Limited last friday, which was a nice surprise since they told me they were backordered and wouldnt get a new shipment until about the 1st of Feb. so i was figuring sometime around mid feb. I got The Seipel barefoot suit, in a Large, man how to you get this thing on and still have energy to go and do a couple sets? I put it on for a couple mins, took it off & i was spent! haha is there something to put in the seals to get through them easier, or would something like allow water to get around the seals...

Baby powder helps until you get wet, but for puting it on dry, its magic.

You can also use binding lube or dish soap on your hands and feet.

I was thinking about soap, but i wasn't sure if that would affect the seals & let water in. The baby powder idea sounds good too, but with my interior of my boat being white seats & dark Navy blue carpet, i have a feeling i'd be spending more time vacuuming & cleaning then i would during sets.

Nate, pick up a bottle of seal saver. I know you can order it from Ron Scarpa and probably any of the other barefoot websites. You want to put that on the seals before you store the suit to keep the seals fresh and so they don't dry out. It also keeps them lubed so the seals will slide over your skin a lot easier. You'll get some moisture into the seals at some point in time especially barefooting. And when you do back deeps and you just start to push your chest into the water to stand up, you will get water down the neck seal. It's gonna happen. Sometimes you'll think someone turned a fire hose on. I've skied with a lot of different guys and the same thing happens to every one of them. No matter what suit you have.

You're also right about getting the thing on. You'll find out that after you get the thing on and do a set, you're completely spent. I think it has to have something to do with that neck seal cuttin' off the blood flow and being in the cold water too. It happens to everybody, but it does lenghthen your season. Enjoy.
