    Wanted Heater

I'm looking for a 2 or 3 speed heater (complete kit) for a 2002 - 196 closed bow. Would like to use the keypad controls to operate heater speeds. Anybody out there got one for sale?

Any heatercraft heater will work. There are wires under your dash just waiting for the heater to be connected. I got mine from the group buy that was done a few years back. If you do a search by user, I did a write up on how to install it on my SANTE, and since you ahve the same dash, yours would be almost the same, just a different engine location.

ag4ever -- Excellent write up & pictorial on how to install heater. I think the 196 will be easier - more room under the deck an engine is closer. Looks like you do top quality work -- I'm a fussy guy myself & I can tell you do it right the first time. How did you know which wires to connect to the keypad for power & fan speed & ?

I purchased a 4 vent heatercraft from him, and installed it in my ski nautique. I have a defrost vent, a footwell vent and pull out tube for the driver, and a pull out tube for the passenger that I routed to come out under the observer seat. There is just enough room for the tube to exit between the seat botoom and the side of the boat.

I also have the low rpm "Y" tube from heatercraft to help the heat at low speed. Its worth the extra $$ for slow speed cruising. My boat is a favorite to ski with in early spring and the end of the season.

Thanks, I am VERY picky about anything I do. No rubberbands, gum or duct tape.

The wire colors matched from the heater I got to the wires that were under the dash, so it was as easy as red to red, yellow to yellow, orange to orange and black to black.

As long as you connect the black to black, the other colors really won't matter, but the button might not operate the fans in low-medium-high speed order. It might go high-lo-medium or such depending on what order they are connected.

Call heatercraft and tell them you are Nautique owner and they will give you a smoking deal. I got the 3 vent 40,000BTU for just over $320 shipped to my door. God luck. PM me if you want more info!
