If you know any one that has done the install, ask them to help. It makes a foreboding project much easier. Also, PP may match a price you get from another dealer. Lastly, drill the hole, it's for the children.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Perfect Pass

We don't have a ski course on our lake and given my Nautique is a V-drive, I doubt if it will ever qualify for a tournament quality pull through the course. While we can cut it up pretty good (slalom), our interests are purely recreational. I reviewed the PP Pro manual and it looks fairly complex to use (e.g. lots of calibrating within an actual course). My wife (I do remember everyone saying that this is a marriage saver!) would like to dial-in 31.5 mph for me, floor the throttle when I say go and then forget about speed control until I drop. Any complexity might result in limited use... The Wakeboard Pro looks a bit easier to use but I was a bit disappointed to learn that speed can only be set in 2 mph increments -- there's a wide gap between 30 and 32 mph... However, my #1 goal is to make this super easy for my wife so I can ski often! ...keeping my eye on the prize! Thanks.

Can I assume the "children" comment was due to the fact that the paddle controls speed under 24? We have many, many kids we pull and at slower speeds with a V-Drive I find myself constantly adjusting the speed instead of having fun watching the kids!

Should not be a problem for your wife to operate at all, you can preset everything before you get in the water leaving PP on when you turn off the ignition, when she starts the boat it will go to the settings you have already input, at that point all she needs to do is throttle up normally, once within a few MPH of the set speed a beep will sound and PP has taken over, the same holds true should you fall and she comes back around for another pickup.

PP is really awesome particularly on the slower speed pulls, never really use it for barefooting but for everything else it works well. Never noticed the 2mph increments on slalom as I typically ski either 32 or 34, in the wakeboard mode you can adjust to 1/2mph incriments, not sure if within that mode you could adjust up to ski speed.

You don't need PP Pro, the Wakeboard pro is just right for your needs. PP Pro is for those that want exact tolerance's w/in the course using the magnets and be able to adjust for crew weight, skier weight and wind. I have PP pro, but I only really need it when I am in the course. Several of my friends have Wake Pro and it works great. On Wake pro, we use RPM mode instead of SLalom mode, that way we can fine tune the speed in 25 rpm increments. Just learn your baseline rpm's and then you can set it for each skier. IE, in my friends SN, 3600 rpm's is about 34.3 mph under load. As other's have said, it is well worth it, and the paddle wheel is necessary and fairly easy to install.

works for skiers and wakeboarders. Run it off rpm for skiing and wakeboard for boarding. works well.
If you don\'t do it today, you will be one day older when you do!!

You are correct, sir. The only reason I put in the paddlewheel was for my son's future skiing career. He is only 3. While he does ski, I don't think I can set PP that slow and "in gear" seem to work.

I added PP a few years ago - it's definitely worth it (and go for the paddle wheel). If your kids ever do pick up wakeboarding or anything, you'll really love it, because those speeds seem harder to hold steady than slalom speeds.

I mostly ski and have a course - but without any magnets. The PP people recommended Wakeboard Pro for me, as it was simpler to set up. They said if I ever decided to add magnets to my course, I could upgrade the Wakeboard pro software and add the timer for about $200 (the same as the price difference between the Wakeboard Pro and the Digital Pro). So far, I haven't felt the need to upgrade.

Like most people on here, I installed it myself with no trouble - though I was a boat mechanic in a previous life, so had an advantage there.

                  Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I called Jeff at Midwest Correct Craft -- they do many PP installations according to my local dealer -- and Jeff said the only tough part would be cutting the hole in the dash. My Nautique has the tach on the left and the speedo on the right (both digital). There is a Nautique label in the middle (and slightly elevated) of these two gauges and it's the same size as the two other gauges. I thought I might be able to pop this "placeholder" out to make room for a new gauge. I was told that this label was simply a decal on the surface of the dash and that I needed to cut a hole out of my dash in order to make room for the PP gauge. He said this could be a bit tricky and that I should cut from the back. I was also told to move the speedo to the middle of the dash and place the PP on the right side for easy access in adjusting speeds. Did you have to cut a hole in your dash and if so, was this easy?

I used a dremel to cut the defrost vent hole for my heater.....check my pics, it turned out perfect!
