    Average hours per season?

I noticed when pricing my boat for possible sale...it doesn't give you a place to input boat hours...

    What's a good average guess? 100 a season?

I only have 450 or so on mine...and my boat is 9 years old...

I believe most consider 50hrs a season to be average.

IF you equate average use in a boat to averaging 80 MPH in a car, 100 hours per year would equate to around 8,000 miles per year on a car. Unless your boat is a garage queen, it is really easy to use it for over 100 hrs per year.

It depends on ow it is used. I would agree with the 50 hour per year mark as average. If it is a club boat it can go as high as 600 hours a year. it all depends on how it ts used Your boat I think makes the point.

Every weekend skiing, 100 hours is normal

Every weekend then add in two to three evenings during the week, 200 hours easily.

Every day on a club boat, 400+

            450/9 = 50. Any questions?

I know 50 is about what my boat averaged....I was just curious to see what an overall average was...for some reason I feel like I need to be logging 100 hours every year...there are so many times that I don't use it that I know I should

Yeah, I think a lot of people would be happy to get 50hrs/season out of their boats. I'm sure on PN you're going to find an influx in these numbers though because we have a lot of die hards. I personally get 100+hrs/season but I have a lot of time in the summer to use my boat, not just weekends. We go out on average 6+ days per week in the summer and cruise a lot at night so it really adds up.

I did 110 hours the first year and then averaged 50 - 60 in subsequent years. But you have to take into consideration that I skied 1/2 the time behind my buddies boat.

Great point! I ski 3-4 days a week, and I never get more than 50hrs/year because of the rotation of other boats. Also, it greatly depends on your location. I would say in the midwest it is more like 35-40( unless you do a lot of slow cruising) because of our short season. Also, I think the particular discipline plays a role. Wakeboarding and surfing can be an all day event, with motor running constantly, whereas slalom skiing, you take a couple sets and you are done.

we have a 97 tige' that we bought new in june of 97 and have 1850+ hours on it. bought a 03 196 sig last spring to ski our portable course and put 90+ hours on it with about 180 on the tige'. So guess that we are way above average. boats not set much on the weekend here. 196 in the mornings and the tige is on the move the resst of the day and all night. we do have fun.

I average north of 50, but we do some slow "booze cruises" in the evenings... I think that's very right though with the differences between slalom and wake sports... wake sports you can be out forever, but the slalom tears me up too quickly... I wish I was lucky enough be out on someone else's for a change, though... hahaha.

End of last year, 1966 hours on a 1997 Ski Nautique. 1966/11 = 178 hours per season.
I am a semi retired boat bum, so I have more time to take my boat out. I also have worked as many as five youth camps in a summer, and I am also on a Show ski team, and use my boat for some of that too.
When I worked at a local dealer, I saw an seven or eight year old Ski 176 come in for it's 25 hour checkup.
It is recommended that a car be run every two weeks, to keep oil on the internal parts of an engine, and to keep other things lubricated. I would suggest that an engine run more often might have less wear than an engine that is only started and ran a few times a season.

Depends on the area of the country too. Here in MN we're lucky to get 6 months that are usable. Most unless they're diehards only use their boats from Memorial to a little past Labor Day so you're only talking 3.5-4 months. 50 hours is definitely average here.

I put 82 hours on our boat last year and the reaction I get from most people is Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

I think 82 hours put me in third place at our dealership for boats they service.

I find I only put on an hour or 1.5 every time I'm out because unless we're riding, the boat is off. We don't do a lot of cruising.
