Can someone please turn the thermostat up in Minnesota?

Just need to vent, but the weather here in Minnesota has been freakin' awful. Cold, windy, cloudy....day after day after day....after day.

Ice went out on Northern lakes in early May...and it's not improved much since then.

The water is cold, I know, but if the sun would shine for ten minutes and the wind would die I'd be out. So far, the boat has seen a lot of garage time. What a crappy spring.

I hope elsewhere in these United States it's been a little better. Anyone else had problems?

Oregon has had a cold wet spring also. Good news. Lake Powell is getting water.
How are the dried lakes in the southeast doing?

Our lake was 13'-15' low last year. We are now already 1'-2' above summer pool. the only problem now is that with the low levels last year and now returning to normal there is 2 years worth of "junk" in the lake. I pulled out a 3' 6x6 out of the water last weekend!!!!

Our city's water supply, Falls Lake, was about 8-10 feet down last year and first part of this year. It got to the point where we had about 45 days of water left. The reservoir looked like a small narrow creek and there were some very nervous people around here. We had a great week of rain back in March, and it brought the lake back up to 2 feet below full pool. Thankfully we have had a moderately wet spring and Falls is at full pool and then some.

Regarding the cool temperatures up in MN, I'd recommend moving south  Our season starts in April/May and last until Oct./Nov. We have some crazies that ski/board year round, and also have some lakes that are warmed by coal and nuclear power plants. Here's hoping for warmer weather in the Great White North (the high today here is 87 degrees and I'll be heading to our lake house this afternoon).

We have had crappy weather this spring as well in Western MD with the exception of Memorial Day Weekend which was nice. The water is still cold (low 60's) which is keeping my kids out of the water. Yellow_Flash_Colorz: This weekend looks wet as well.

Misery loves company, I guess. It's a little warmer today...and this morning was actually calm. But...I couldn't take the boat out. Warmer is relative. It's 59 right now approaching noon.

This whole spring it's either been cold, or windy, or both. Last year I had put a dozen days on the water by this point. This May stinks.

Chear up Stevieb. At least in Minnesota it's supposed to be cold, and your accustomed to dealing with it.

Here in Northern California, we had 5 straight days over 100 degrees. Issue, 35-45 mph winds. Then,
on Memorial day weekend, it rained two days. Oddest spring I can recall, and I've lived here 44 years.

RedBird, the thing is, our season usually DOES start mid april, and go through mid October... Allegedly, we will get some decent temps this weekend, but they say that a lot, until the Monday retrospective.....

I hear ya Slayer. Our spring has been unusually cool so the water isn't what I'd call "comfortable" yet. As I've gotten older I'm less tolerant of colder water (I used to swim in our pool when the water was 65 degrees and it was no big deal). Last year it was so hot that the water in our cove stayed at around 95-98 degrees. It is fairly shallow at 5 ft. so that makes sense. We spent a lot of time in the main lake swimming and goofing around, and the water was very comfortable.

I agree, what good are 10,000 lakes if there all frozen till May and 50 degrees till June.

I fear we're in for a cold windy summer. I don't mind cold water. My family had a cabin when I was growing up just a few dozen miles from Canada...on a deep spring fed lake. That was cold water, but it didn't stop us from skiing. This wind though is driving me nuts. And the rain. And the 53 degree wind and rain. Ugh. I know this weekend they are calling for warmer weather but they've missed the forcast just about every day for the last two weeks. And if the temp does go up, it stays there for a half hour, the drops again, so in the newspaper the next day the 'high' temp looks better than it really was.
