RE: Why would anyone do this to a boat.
That video has been around for a while and discussed alot, especially over on Wakeworld. I believe that the submarine was the result of driver error......not done intentionally.2001 Air Nautique

Interesting. First I've seen it. Found it on Barefoot Central this evening. Accident sounds better.

From what I know of it, he came back on the throttle a little hard and went into reverse right as it crossed the wake. Those 197s tend to scoop up the water with a nose dive a bit more than earlier generation OBs.1998 Ski Nautique (Red/Silver Cloud), GT-40, Perfect Pass Stargazer 8.0z (Zbox), Acme #422, Tunable Rudder.

If that would have been my wife in the observer's seat, she probably would have complained a bit.
Oh yea, the link to my "still favorite" video on Barefoot Central

i met the driver of this NEW act. it was an accident. he hit rollers as he started his power turn. Anyway I met this guy at a boat driving clinic for show skiing. he was taking his driving test and he hit the throttle while his spotter was standing up in the rear of the boat and threw his spotter right out of the boat. he FAILED his testing. luckily no one was injured.
