Im looking at potential tow vehicles and a good deal has come up on a 2005 Yukon Denali. I wanted to get opinions on this weapon as a tow vehicle.

RE: 2005 Yukon Denali for towing ??????????
We tow my friends 07 Sunscape 21 with 03 Yukon SLT quite a bit. Tows great, stops well. however, mine is a piece. It just turned 100k miles and has/had the following problems:
Speedo reads incorrectly/doesn't work at all
Rear air - no temp control from front or rear
Front air - Compressor leaked, locked up, blew LP line
Water pump leaks
PS pump leaks
Front axle seals leak
D/S window won't roll down
4wd engagement motor broken
we bought it w/ 65k on it and all of this has happened since. All totaled, looking @ $4-5K dollars in repairs. Coming from honda/toyota, it will be the last american car i own for quite a while, maybe ever

My wife has an '04 Yukon XL Denali with the 6.0L that we tow our SANTE 210 with. It tows great. I almost don't know the boat is behind us. The All-Wheel drive is an excellent standard feature of the Denali's.
Another great standard feature is the automatic air bags. They will always fill to the point of being level, which is perfect when towing. I had a Ford Expedition before the Denali and I had to install airbags in order to tow level.BKinSoCal - Brian

I loved my Expedition, but the 5.4L just wasn't powerful enough and I didn't want a diesel or the V10. The 6.0L in the Denali is so strong. It made my Expedition feel like it had a squirrel under the hood.
Plus, the amenities of the Denali are so far superior to ANY ford out there...aside from high dollar after market stuff. I believe a Nautique looks fabulous behind a Denali...classy truck towing a classy, bad-*** baot.BKinSoCal - Brian

You know, in reality, it really doesn't matter what any of us are driving as long as it can launch our NAUTIQUE's and get them out of the water...BKinSoCal - Brian

RE: 2005 Yukon Denali for towing ??????????
I think a Yukon is a great choice and there are great deals out there right now on gas guzzlers. I recently picked up a 2002 Z71 Tahoe w/69k miles in like-new condition for 10k and it did a great job pulling my 211 up to Lake New Melones in the Sierra foothills. The last 15 or so miles of that drive are very twisty and steep and the rig handled it like a champ- good pulling power and great braking and handling. The gas mileage is not much worse than I was getting with my 2000 Pathfinder and there's no way the Nissan could have made it without something blowing up (and it's a very reliable truck- 172k miles with zero problems- just not suitable for towing anything heavier than a hobie cat). It's definitely a buyers market for used vehicles right now-

[quote="tourpro"]Thanks for the feed back guys. I knew I could count on you to get the straight goods. You canYou can take it for a test drive, hook it to your trailer and find out for yourself. In most states the dealer must give you the name and address of the former owner upon your request. If possible ask them about the truck, hate to buy someone else's problem if you don't have too.

I got a Ford Aerostar with 159.XXX miles on it. Use it for towing my 1997 Ski Nautique, pretty much all over the Pacific Northwest. A full sized SUV would probably be a better choice for just towing, but I also have to haul a bunch of sound equiptment in my van. There is a lot of space in the extended length Aerostar. I also like the idea of getting 22+ MPG on the freeway, when not hauling anything.
