well now i am curious what im really getting because the in roof mounted gauge says 30 to 33 mpg and no its not set to metric, i take a back highway to work and only do about 55 though, so if speed has that much to do with it than that pry makes a huge difference. And yes in 00 they had the option to have the MPG gauge in the roof pod display. We inherited this truck from my grandpa and it has constantly amazed me, if you can keep your foot out of it it sips diesel.

I have 119k on my F350, I do not think I have ever seen the avg MPG over 13. ABEL, fill the tank and write down the mileage, next time you fill it, divide miles by gallons. Guessing half what your guage says.

i've got a 7.3 with the 6spd and average around 16 or so towing with a cab full of peeps too.not towing i can break 21mpg if i keep the revs down on the interstate(2000 or below)3 stage chip, cold air,and 5 inchexh.also have a cummins and it really yanks the boat around, but it drinks the fuel and is really loud compared to the 7.3,thats not saying much though the dmaxes and newer diesels are so quiet its amazing, but there are also alot more problematic.honestly they are all going to get around the same as long as you can keep your foot out of it and aren't always having to impress your buds with the "see how much power this thing has" driving habits Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

Is it possible to change a Duramax over to veg. oil? I see several kits for sale for the Cummins and the Superduty but nothing for the Duramax. Am I looking in the wrong places? The way I go through gas I thought this would be a good thing to do since it's so cheap(after the initial kit). I have a friend that owns a local Chic-fil-A so used oil is easy to come by and it might help out the enviroment a bit.

06 Duramax, only thing not factory is the tires. 285/75's. Pulling the 08 210 I get about 14.5-15.5 through the country, no highway.

04 Dodge 2500 w/Cummins. 14-16 towing 2001 SAN. If you can keep it below 2000 rpm the mileage is close to 20 (not towing) Buy the diesel. It will be the most fun truck you will ever own.

ok with running straight biodiesel and never really breaking 60 mph i averaged out 24.6 miles per gallon this last fill, not nearly what the gauge was reading but im still impressed, this truck has very very low miles for the year though too, still under 50,000 miles and its a 2000 model. i have talked to several guys on a powerstroke forum and it sounds like running biodiesel makes a significant increase in MPG. GO GREEN!

I can believe 24.6 at those speeds, I can get close to that but rarely have the patience to.... by the way, is your truck a 2wd auto or manual. The only guys I know with that kind of mileage are 2wd, regular cab 6 speeds with a light foot.

its a 4x4 with an auto...but i have to admit its like a game to see how high i can keep that MPG rating in the roof pod readin so i pry have a lighter foot than most, when towing our nautique just under 200 miles over a low mountain pass here in the PNW i still used less than half a tank....this truck has blown me away compared to my older dodge, that thing sucked fuel.

Are all of these numbers accurate? I don't personally have a Diesel, but my good friend will occasionally tow my boat on long trips. He has a 2003 Dodge 2500 Cummins. We had 5 people in the truck, my SPN, a bed full of camping/fishing equipment, clothes, food, beer, etc. We were loaded down, but his mileage was horrible. I took a look at his overhead and it was in the mid 9's for the trip at 65-75mph. To me that seemed bad, my Dodge Ram 1500 4.7l gets about 12 mpg towing around here.

Mine is an 06' Duramax......same scenario except pulling my SuperSport. I went across the Cat scales at 15,200 lbs on my last camping trip. It was a 600-700 mile trip. I got about 12mpg hand calculated. This is with my PPE tuner set on level 2 and my speedo corrected for my 35" tires, set to a hand held GPS. If my truck wasn't lifted it would be better. If I would have drove 55mph it goes up ALOT, but I can't drive that slow
I did a test a while back just to see what I could get my truck to do, lifted on 35's and PPE on level 6. I drove like a baby and did the speed limit never going over 2,000 rpms. I did this for 100 miles through town and freeway and got 19mpg hand calculated. I couldn't stand driving like that though..........so I normally get about 17mpg unloaded driving 70-75mph and taking off fast around town.

I need to have the gears changed to help the truck get back to stock since adding the 35's..........someday, it's about $1700
