    Denali broken into last week.

So last week we were out at a company Christmas party. It was located at a Mariot hotel and the Denali was broken into during our 3 hour stay. :x

The thieves smashed the drivers' side (and only) lock set completely through the door to gain entry. Once inside they took a Garmin GPS, HTC Touch cell phone, Scotty Cameron putter, my wallet and a couple of DVDs.

I've since heard from a couple of sources that these trucks are common and easy targets for theft.

Is there anything worth while adding to these trucks to make them appreciably less vulnerable, besides a Doberman ??

But really, at the end of the day; don't leave anything in your car that you don't want stolen (especially don't leave it visible).

Yea...or treat it like a convertible and don't lock the doors. So at least you don't have damage to the vehicle.

          Escalades
          and
Old Cadillacs, If you own any of the above... you need a forcefield around your car.

A lot of Japanese cars are very easy to break into using the same method. Once the lock set is off track or yanked out, all you have to do is put your finger in and open it. Its really hard to protect against professional thieves since they can code break your alarm to turn it off.

Don't leave anything in your car that u can't stomach losing...

My brother has his truck broken into the same way the week before Christmas. Smashed the drivers side window in Dicks' Sporting Goods parking lot . They took his Garmin GPS and iPod.

Any upscale vehicle is more of a target for a break in like this. They figure you have a nice car so its more likely to have nice things inside of it.

The Accords/Camreys etc are more likely to be stolen themselves.

About the only thing you can do is make your truck less of a target or a harder target than others nearby. That means parking in well lit spaces, not leaving things visible, locking the doors, etc. Like you saw, doesnt do much good if they want in though

you need a viper alarm. or, there is a new company that alerts your email/cell phone to a break in amongst many other bad *** features. if you had it you probably could have run out there or if you don't carry called hotel security.

in a smash and grab they would have been long gone by time you got out there.

Alarms dont do much to a pro. He will know how to easily disarm about any alarm within a few seconds.
