Unfortunately my participation was only as the driver. Came down with Food Poisoning 48 hours prior to NYD and did not feel as though getting into the water was a good idea.
I was out the week-end prior and there was a chill in the air.

Looks like it was a pretty good (and cold) time. In my younger days in Massachusetts we used to throw an icebreaker barefoot party. The first saturday in the spring that the ice cleared enough, we would roll out the barbeque, coolers, and get some runs in. It was definetely cold.

I actually havent barefooted in years but I am committed to do a run this summer. My kids are just about old enough, so I want to prove to them I can do it, and then I may be retired at the ripe old age of 38.

Where abouts in MA did you live? I lived (went to college) in Boston. Not sure what your set up is but if you want to get back out and foot this spring/summer let me know and we can meet up and have a morning /afternoon of it. I am in Concord and ski either at Lake Wylie or Badin Lake (off highway 49). Have not been to Jordon Lake but it is on my list

don't bend over backward. Too shallow for my taste, along with Falls. Badin pretty cool? I've been to High Rock but not Badin...yet.

Badin is very nice but small. Some good places to ski and Fish Tales Resturant / Marina serves up good burgers and ice cream.
We need to get these NC Nautiques hooked up this spring / summer

I'm definitely in to meet up. I usually ski at Jordan just because it is convenient - I can generally get the boat in the water from my house in about 15 minutes. I really want to start to get to some of the other lakes around. My parents live on Smith Mountain Lake so I get there a bunch of times a year, but I would like to see Baden, Norman, Hyco, etc. I like to camp, so I am always on the lookout for a nice weekend camp spot, with the boat of course.

NCH2O - Same as you I went to college in Boston and then Worcester. We had a little ski club on lake in Holland, MA (near Sturbridge). A small lake but we had a slalom course and a jump. We used to wake up the lake at 6:00 am barefooting behind a 69 CC Mustang. That thing was not quiet.

                  Cheers

We generally hit Harris for the day. It was cleaned out better so not really anything to hit. I went to SML Apr 07 but had boat problems with the Gekko so didn't really get to see the lake (but the area is absolutely beautiful). My buddy found a state park on Badin, but we haven't tried it yet. Norman gets crowded now, not like when my grandparents bought the place 40+ years ago. Hyco is heated, so I plan to try it early this year (but I hear that Wildlife Officers are pretty thick up there). If you like to camp, I'm dying to try Lake James. Finger lake, deep clear green water, and a few campsites right on the water, and only a 3 hour trip, all by interstate. And of course I'm definitely going back to High Rock.

I have not heard of Lake James but it sounds nice. I will have to look it up on a map. When I hear finger lake, I automatically think of upstate NY. I grew up going to the Adirondack lakes (Finger Lakes, Chain Lakes and Lake George). Lake George is about my favorite lake of all time. It will be long trip, but at some point I plan on loading up the family truckster and pulling the boat all the way up to Lake George to camp on the islands.

If your looking for scenery and deep water check out Fontana Lake. Cabin rental and camping available. It is in the western part of the state. Sorry to continue the hi jack.

Keowee is nice, especially the north end as it lies in the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can camp in a real nice state park 5 minutes from a ramp, pizza, gas and a nautique dealer. It's a half day drive from Raleigh.
                          Peace..

Only things that bother me are the 75' fluctuation in water level and remoteness. 6 hours to Fontana, 5 1/2 to Keowee. 3 hours to James.
