Don't even have to look at the link...that is a classic Malibu Wedge disaster. Prop shaft appears to be intact, rudder is bent but intact, but the Wedge alone completely destroys the boat. I too will stick to ballast and a better built boat.

I'd also guess there is water damage to the motor of this one. I hope they had friends with Nautiques so they could ride Sunday

No chance. The thread is worth the read though. This happened 5+ years ago.

This is an old thead posted by an owner with an out of warranty boat who let his insurance expire. The thread was started after he gave Malibu an ultimatum to fix the boat or he would post the pix and slander Malibu. I had a discussion with the dealer after the situation.

I am sure there has been an instance in history where each disgruntled owners of various boats including Correct Crafts have acted in similar poor fashion. I have heard of rudders getting torn off and blades being thrown from props through the boat hull. I feel the wakeworld thread was done in poor form. There was more going on there than meets the eye.

Malibu makes a good boat. I have two good friends with late model Malibu's, both have the wedge, the product does what it is supposed to do. On my houseboat trip a few years ago my newphew was driving my buddies bu and ran over a large log partially submerged. I narrowily missed the prop but caught the wedge and sheared off one of the uprights, there was no damage to the boat. He pulled the broken wedge off the boat and ran an extra fat sac for the rest of the weekend.

My Nautique's wakegate is convenient but it's effect on the wake is not as dramatic as the wedge. I also like the wedge because it unloads automatically when you stop the boat. I also like the Switchblade too. I feel that both of these are good products that work well.
