Looks like TRPA will now be charging to inspect all boats that enter Lake Tahoe this year. Last year inspections were free, but not this year. The inspections are to make sure sure the lake stays free of Quagga and Zebra mussels. TRPA hasn't said the exact cost but it will be between $10-$60 depending on boat length. Boaters will be inspected as you enter; when you leave a sticker (seal) will be placed on the boat and trailer, if you return with the seal in tact you will be free to launch again w/out paying.
