Use Paypal, pretty much everyone has an account and it is safe and secure. Also, anyone can send money using Paypal without an account.

He wants me to send it first. sounds like he's worried I won't send it after I receive payment. Paypal says not to ship before payment what do I do to make him know I will send them?

Tell him to take a hike.

If he insists on buying them from you, set up a third party escrow account.

I have never shipped something without receiving payment first whether it be paypal or cashier's/money order. I send a tracking number as soon as i ship it so there are no issues. paypal would refund him after a while if you were a dick and didn't send them, but i know that' isn't the case here. so tell him if he wants them to pay up. or if he/she is unwilling tell him you want a 50% deposit then the other 50% after tracking # is sent.

I think you can handle it either way. A few factors come in to consideration. What is the value or risk of loss? What does your gut tell you after talking to the guy? Can they get damaged? I have insisted people pay me in advance, half up front, and after the fact. I have sent large deposits on two of the three boats I bought to who knows who. My SAN I sent the guy $2000 2 weeks before I drove to get it. My first boat I sent the guy $500 6 months before I picked it up. On the other hand, I am selling a part out of my SAN, and really don't care either way, so I said pay me after you get it. Times are tough now so if there is much value, I would get the dough up front unless it doesn't really matter to you. There is risk on both sides, really.

I would not ship until I got the money. If he pays with a check or money order it is much easier for him to get his cash back if something happens than it is for you to get your item back from him if he doesnt pay.

I would be wary of that, too. I've bought quite a bit of stuff on this forum and I always pay and then get a tracking number. Sometimes it takes a day or two, but we're all busy. Life's to short to sweat it out, and I've not been burned thus far. Plus this site carries a different type of person than some random off craigslist.
