I did some digging about a month ago and Tige' appeared solid, at least financially, as did CC and Gekko (Fineline). If I remember right Bu and MC were the struggling towboat makers.

When Tige moved to Abilene they got the City to build their plants with municiple bonds. They basically rent their plant from the city until it is paid off. They only pay based on boats sold. So for every boat they sell they pay the city back, say $300 or whatever the amount is. Boat sales go up, it sells off quicker, sales go down, they aren't stuck with the high payments/debt. For the city it provides jobs for the people and help Tiges weather financial storms to be a long term employer. Of course in these times they aren't employing as many people. I met and visited with Charlie Pigeon at a boat show around the time they were opening their last new plant. Seemed like a very smart and boat savy person.

Wow that is a great business plan. As a current MBA student I am always looking for case studies, Tige looks like it could be interesting one.
