i like gmc's better even though mechanically they are the same. there are subtle differences on the trim, lights, etc. i think you meant to ask nch20 about the difference though.

Anybody know if the 1/2 ton diesels are still coming in 2010? Diesel is now cheaper than gas again...

RE: Re: RE: New truck advice

I have a 2007 Tundra with the 5.7L V8. I've had the truck for two years and this is without a doubt the best truck I have ever owned. It pulls my Sport like it isn't even there. The power and control of this truck is amazing. The 6 speed transmission is amazing. I can't say enough good things about this truck. And... it's built right here in the USA! (Texas, Indiana) with more American parts than it's GM or Dodge counterpart! Heck the Dodge hemi engine is , scratch that, WAS built in Mexico!

Before I bought the Tundra I owned a '98 Tacoma with a 3.8LV6 5 speed auto. The Taco would pull the Sport, it had a 5,000 pound towing capacity, but it wasn't something you would want to do for a long distance on the highway. The Taco was a great truck I never had any problems with it and never had to put anything but the usual maintenance items in it. I bought the truck used for 15K with 45,000 miles on it and sold it five years with 130,000 miles for 10K. The Toyota trucks hold their value.

Chevy/GMC Its just cosmetic differences, the latest generation has better ride and handling. Coil over springs on the front instead of torsion bars, 6 speed tranny, and active fuel managent. Hopefully this will help on the fuel economy. I was never disapointed with the towing performance of my Chevy, it was the maintenance issues that were getting to me. Hopefully this one will be more dependable.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: New truck advice

I had almost the exact same situation going. I traded a 2006 Z71 Chevy 5.3 extend cab for a Tundra 5.7 litre.
Here's what's crazy, the Yota gets better mileage than the Chevy (slightly, but it's there) but makes 382 HP and 400 ft/lbs versus 285 for the Chevy. Less maintenance, cost, and gas for 100 more horsepower? That was a no brainer, and the thing tows like a tank. It's amazing!!! I love that truck. I went down in trim level to cloth, but I put a DVD/NAV in there and a screen for the back for the kiddo's and I LOVE that truck. Plus it's built more in the USA than my Chevrolette ever was...

Not true, he is getting .15/mile IN ADDITION TO a monthly vehicle allowance......if I read that correctly.

Correct we get a monthly allowance, so the payment is made even if we are not traveling much.

Here is a quick picture of the tow rig and sport. Both need a bath, but I'd rather be on the lake today. Also overlook the unfinished landscape project.
