post a photo of your dock

Here is mine - when the water is up we attach the floating part to the pier -when it's down... well you see how it works.
I'm working on getting a new one and can't decide on what to get. Spend the extra money and get the all aluminum with aluminum decking or stick with wood and deal with the maintenance. I'd like to see some photos of how everyone else is set up.

WOW that looks like a huge swing in water levels. Looks like you have to be a rock climb to get down there.

That is some serious swings in water level. We get about 3 feet of difference throughout the year.

We went with a wood dock due to cost. I stain it once a year and it is holding up well. Use a mooring buoy to keep the SAN away the dock and it works great.

here's my setup at the place we rent at WL.

Buoy at the bow, tied within steppin' distance at the rear. Wish the covered area to the right was wide and deep enough!

Since the place is yours, build it to last. Less time maintaining and more time riding!

Thanks for the photos everyone.... yea the pictures I posted were taken in the September 2007 and we were in the middle of the worst draught. The water doesn't usually drop that far - Smith Lake Alabama - normal pool is 510', I think the level is somewhere around 493' in those pics. Normally low water is around 496' in November.

You know you've got a good site when you're in an extreme drought and can still access the lake. Two years ago here there were a LOT of boats that were stuck on lifts or couldn't reach their docks. At G'mas, the float was on the bottom but we could still tie up to it due to a severe drop on the docking side!

what part of Smith are you on? You are correct that Sept, 07 was the lowest the lake has ever gotten. Alott of people had zero water underneath their docks that year.

Water levels typically will have a 15 ft swing during the year.

I just finished building mine on Smith Lake I will take some this weekend. I have under $7000 in mine including the boat lift and jetski docks. Got to luv Ebay......

                            EBAY:
I bought my Airfloat 4500lbs boat lift used off Ebay for $700 had to pick it up on lake Wylie in NC. We have friends that live near there so we just visited them and picked the lift up on the way home.
I bought my used Hydroport 1 jetski docks, 2 of them off ebay for $900 for both had to go to West Palm Beach FLA to pick them up. We have family in Fort Lauderdale so we stayed with them over a holiday weekend
I bought all my plastic tubs off Ebay also I got all of them for $300 they were new but a dock builder went out of business so I got a deal on them had to go to NW GA to get them (no family or friends there).

My dock is a floating dock made out of mild steel and wood decking with a metal roof. It is U shaped 20' accross 30' long with a 11' x 10' swim peir where the jetski docks are attached. The main structure is 2x3 box tubing 1/4 thick. The roof supports are 2x2 box tubing 1/8" thick. I welded it all together then decked it out at the lake. later came back and added the roof out at the lake.

As you can see from this picture there is no roof or decking this while I was builing it you can see the boat lift, jetski docks, and the generator/welder in the picture

I am on Farley Branch in Brushy Creek - God's Country.

Here is a picture of my neighbor's dock taken the same day as the first ones I posted. It is a flotation systems dock - really nice..... and expensive.
