    Cracked Exhaust Manifold

The dealer told me today that I had a cracked exhaust manifold on my Nissan Armada....$1,900 to fix. I know there are a lot of mechanics on here in this forum. I was wondering what the consequences would be if I deferred repairs. Would there be any long term damage to engine? The engine runs fine. I just brought it in for an oil change, and the mechanic told me about the issue.

    Thanks for the input!

    RE: Cracked Exhaust Manifold

First off, I'm in no way a mechanic in any sense of the word. I beleive that a cracked exhaust manifold will cause an increase in fuel consumption as well as a possible loss of some power. I'm sure it will still run without getting it fixed but if it were me, I would have another mechanic look at it and if they said that it was cracked, I would replace it. You should hear an abnormal sound in your exhaust when the engine is reved up if you have a leak.
