ELIZABETHTOWN — Another wakeboarding event is about to hit Freeman Lake Park.
The park, which hosted the E-Town Throwdown last month, is set to host the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour’s fourth stop July 18-19. The PWT is part of the King of Wake series that features the world’s top professional wakeboarders, also known as rippers.
The Elizabethtown stop is the fourth of five on the tour. The tour has already had competitions in Fort Worth, Texas; Pleasant Prairie, Wis.; and Knoxville, Tenn., and will complete its season in Reno, Nev., on Aug. 14-16.
Canadian Aaron Rathy, the top-ranked ripper on tour, will be going for his third consecutive win following victories in the last two events.
Bryan Hutton, a Versailles resident who competes on the MasterCraft team, is also expected to be competing. Hutton advanced to the semifinals in Knoxville and is ranked 12th overall on the tour.
Events begin at 9:30 a.m. July 18 with the junior professional men quarterfinals. The pro men round of 40 will be held from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Pro men’s quarterfinals start at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, semifinals are slated for 1 p.m. and the finals start at 3. The junior pro semifinals will be held at noon, and the finals will be held at 2:30. An awards ceremony is slated for 3:30.
On another note I am PROUD to say Nautique will have a spot there! I will be bringing a new 09 216 and one of my team rider's promo 230! I wish I could bring more but I can't keep them in stock!
