    9/11 A Day of Service

Obama and Congress have made this day, a day of service. In the spirit of the volunteerism that swept accross New York. Firefighters, Police, EMS, and others gave their lives to rescue people they did not know. They want me to go volunteer my time helping the needy.

Here is what I plan to do. My service to my country will be to hold a steady job, support my family, and make sure mine are taken care of. I will not be a felon, thief, murderer, etc... I will help people who help themselves when bad things happen, but I will not enable the lazy. At this stage in my life, I would probably not be the best pick to be in a war, but god forbid some other government try and invade my shores.

I will spend this day remembering what happens when government gets lazy, and when politics gets in the way of sound intelligence and military planning. I will remember the past and the people that have given the ultimate sacrifice, but I do not see or have a desire to serve the government in their quest to make it easy for everyone. Life is hard, and the only thing that makes it easier is hard work.

So instead of this being a day of service, I would like it to be a day of labor and remembrance of what happens when we get to comfortable.

After the great slalom ski run I had today behind my 1998 196 I get to use, I am so pumped I am going to get more serious about my work, so I can earn enough money to own a 200. That way, a lot of people I sell to will have what they want, I will have what I want, and CC will sell another boat. If 1000 of us did this, what would that do to improve our country's economy!
