    Goofy Foot

Okay guys, I'm thoroughly confused. Last week I was informed right foot forward is "goofy foot" (and confirmed through the internet). I always took it as opposite natural, which meant reversed for lefties (me!). I took "natural" as strong foot forward (lefties-->Left foot, righties-->right foot).

So, anybody straighten out my confusion? I'm a lefty and ski/ride left foot forward, but have now found out that 'natural' for a righty is left foot forward.

Any of this making sense? Not to me... PDT_009

whether you are right handed or left handed and which foot you ride forward. Just wanted to see the breakdown on PN. Watched some videos this week of pros skiing and saw some both ways, though I don't know if they're left-handed or right-handed.

Me neither boss. I'm a righty, with right foot forward. But I'll do you one better, I ski with my right hand, palm up, left hand, palm down when gripping the handle. That's backwards, but that's how I learned to ski 30 years ago.

SNMike., that makes you extra goofy.

I am left handed, right foot forward, and would hold the handle the same as you.

There are only two things I do right handed. One of them is play hockey.

So is your weight favored to the rear? I tried right foot forward once and couldn't pull it off...

Exact same for me, I thought that our grip was "correct" up to a few years back when someone deduced switching that grip enhances your extension or something along those lines. Have tried flipping my hands over, just cannot get used to it.

                  RE: Re: Goofy Foot

Goofy foot is considered skiing with your right foot forward. Being right or left handed does not play a part in determining whether or not you are skiing goofy.

Here's one for ya. I'm right handed, I ski with right foot forward but surf with left foot forward.

I'm right handed but ski and board RFF. Riding switch is totally not comfortable to me, and I haven't invested any time in practicing it.

I voted "Lefty/right foot" because I thought you were asking what Goofy Foot was.

I was told the same Quin, but the handle and rope twist/turn just the same at full extension, and not only could I not get used to it, it didn't make any diff. For me anyway.

Anybody that has spent much time jumping will almost always ski left palm up, right palm down. This puts your arms in the strongest position for the jump cut.

I would think this would coordinate with which foot you put forward...left palm up=left foot forward, etc...
