Headed To Palm Springs, CA in March-Any Private Lakes To Ski

I am headed to the Palm Springs, CA area in March with my family. I was wondering if there are any spots to get a few sets in while I am there? Any ski schools, any rental places, anything at all?

    Thanks,
    Steve

RE: Headed To Palm Springs, CA in March-Any Private Lakes To

You realize Palm Springs is a desert, right? Used to live there. Nothing in the area in terms of water skiing. There's the Salton Sea, but unless you want to develop hives and glow at night, I would avoid it. It is heavily polluted with agricultural runoff. The other option is Big Bear Lake, but I bet you it is frozen over in the winter - cold at a minimum. San Diego is 2 hours away. Drop the family off at the Zoo and hit the water!

You have Shadow Lakes north of Indio, there's a pic in Panoramio of Google Earth, looks awesome.

Just North of Salton Sea there's Ski Ranch Oasis and East of the sea there are Eric Lee's lakes.

I am willing to drive a could hours to make a few passes. Would need to be able to "rent" a boat and driver and have access to a course. And, yes I realize it is a desert, BUT I am looking for those that are more informed in the area than I am. Just like if you said you were headed to WA, I could point you in the right direction, or hesk even offer to pull you myself.

Years ago i was a member at Sunset Ranch. Sunset ranch is probably your best bet, they rent the lake out. 1/2 hour or so from PS.

Contacted them. I was surprised, they do not sell by the set. You have to rent the boat for the entire day. I am hoping they will work me in. For me, renting for an entire day would KILL ME!!! Mid summer when I am skiing a course everyday, sure, make a set, rest, make a set, rest....... but after 5 months of lttle to no skiing in the north, an entire day would kill me.

Anyone know any other places? Within 2-3 hours.........
