New X-Trek Concept Boat
New model takes design and engineering to the limit to produce the ultimate wakeboarding boat.
VONORE, TN; July 4-MasterCraft takes design and engineering to the limit with the launch of the innovative new X-Trek concept boat, which matches the high-voltage energy of wakeboarding with a boat that delivers the ultimate in styling and riding excitement.
Following in the tradition of MasterCraft's leading-edge X-series models, every feature of the new X-Trek is designed for excitement and wakeboarding fun. A signature design element is the sculpted pylon tower that meets the needs for boarders seeking to launch off monster wakes and reach for big air. A center-console driving position puts the driver exactly where he or she needs to be for optimum sightlines and balance. And a huge transom activity deck has built-in seating and equipment storage for maximum convenience.
"MasterCraft is always looking for ways to innovate both in styling and technology," says MasterCraft President John Dorton. "We look at the X-Trek concept boat as an ideal way to force us to think about meeting the future needs of consumers and to get important feedback."
According to Dorton, the process of creating the X-Trek concept boat has already produced positive design and engineering advancements that will be incorporated into future MasterCraft boats.
Earlier this year, MasterCraft received the Grow Boating by Design Award from the Marine Design Resource Alliance (MDRA) for developing the X-Trek boat and for outstanding achievement in the MDRA Concept Boat Program. The X-Trek is the first concept boat produced by MasterCraft in cooperation with the MDRA. "Working with MasterCraft and John Dorton on the X-Trek has been a rewarding experience for all of us at the Alliance," said MDRA President Peter Granata. "What they have accomplished with the X-Trek will have a major impact on MasterCraft models of the future and the sport of wakeboarding in general. Radical styling gives the X-Trek instant credentials with wakeboarders of all skill levels. When you see this boat blasting across the water there's no doubt who's driving the coolest boat on the lake."
Importantly, the X-Trek's functional beauty is more than gel-coat deep. The boat is built on the award-winning X-9 hull and running surface, which delivers a sweet ride and huge, launching-pad wakes. The X-9 was named 2001 Towboat of the Year by "Powerboat" magazine.
A Cadillac Vortec 6.0-litre V8 inboard engine, which only MasterCraft can deliver to wakeboarders through an exclusive arrangement, powers the X-Trek. Design elements of special note consist of center-console seating, an integrated pylon tower like nothing else on the water, a flip-over spotter seat, and a huge, fully equipped transom activity deck.
