First ski today - in WI!

Just took my first run of the year today! Air temp 63 degrees, water temp... 35.5!!! I actually had chunks of ice float by as I was sitting in the water! This marks my earliest run ever.

That is awesome. I have a buddy in Wisconsin who did that a few years ago in January or February during an unusually warm spell. The lake was literally freezing around them and they had to stop. He then went snowboarding in the UP within 24 hours.

I thought about heading over to closest ski hill this week, just to say I started waterskiing before quitting snow skiing this season.

My ski lake is still a long way behind WI. We have had a very warm winter in central BC this year. The lake is still 2-3 feet thick of ice, however a lake (2-3 inches deep) is forming on top of the ice with the warm sunny weather these days....that only means the ice will melt that much faster...maybe by mid April we will be able to go for a ski. Historically the ice leaves the lake in the first week of May.
Point being...I am jealous of you guys in WI!
Dont take NoelB's advice...stay as far south as you can!

Did you have a dry suit on? I'm waiting for the water temp to get out of the 50's...

Congrats. We just planned a SKI/SKI weekend this morning. We are going to hit the water in the morning then head to the mountain Saturday afternoon.

I bought a new Sahara for this season, and it was awesome. My body wasn't cold at all, but my hands and feet felt like they were being stabbed with pins! I'm not going again until the water hits at least 45!

35.5 takes some cajones, dude. What river were you on?

I am probably a month out yet.......

                      Okay, you win!
We're hoping that sometime next week the ice will be gone at the landing and we can go, just to say we went in March.

I'm in Montana and we've skied the last 2 weekends! The ice came off the lake right around the first of March, **** early for here. All the big lakes still have ice, but the small private lake is open. Air was in the 50's and water in the low 40's. Just the hands and feet that were hurting.

Wow 35.5 is cooold. We still have ice on our lake in south (close to the Iowa border) central Minnesota. The air temp today is only 46 degrees. They are forcasting snow on Friday. Anyone ever go in the snow?

I have ridden in the snow before, both Fall and Spring. Not so much anymore. No one wants to go out and play anymore when the weather is poor....

The weatherman is talking rain/snow mix for tomorrow, so we're going again if that't the case. I want a photo skiing in snow showers! Just a side note, we used my buddies Prostar, as I'm not willing to run my boat in a river full of ice bergs! I was waiting for someone to call me out on that!
