    Stuck In California

Unfortunately I'm stuck here. I would look at North Carolina Southern Virginia I don't know much about Alabama and Arkansas. West Texas is also supposed to be beautiful in the hill country.

bama is cool. middle to slightly northern is where the lakes are. down where i am is rivers and bayou's. and then you got some really nice beaches too. there is an interesting mix of folks around here so you would probably get some serious culture shock. like cali is another planet compared to what's going on here. you are more than welcome though. i'll take a few pics tomorrow out on the river.

There are 17000 lakes in MN, but the trade off to our summers is the winters we have to survive. My favorite place in the world is North Idaho. That will be my home someday. They have winter too, but it is a fun, snowy, not so cold winter when compared to MN.

so you can move ANYWHERE? NC is great because there is moderate weather (not too hot in the summer and not too cold in the winter) and it's convenient to the coast and mountains. Some of the lakes are Lake Norman, Lake James, Highrock, Lake Gaston to name a few. Don't know if you want urban or rural, but Smith Mountain Lake in VA is a great area though it's away from any major cities (except Roanoke) and Lake Keowee in SC is supposed to be sweet. Maybe look at Lake Anna in VA. Pretty close to DC and has a heated half. Tennessee has some sweet lakes too.

              Costa Rica

How 'bout moving to Costa Rica?! Most days you'll be the only boat out on Lake Arenal. Affordable, beautiful, summer all year!
Attached is a pic of the cove where our wake-school is located. Always flat water, even while they're kiting a couple 100 meters further down the lake. An active volcano at the other end of the lake... pretty amazing!

                  Costra Rica?

Yea but how stable is the Government and is there any work there?
If I can find somthing with a couple acres on the water on a nice lake for $400k I can buy it outright and not have a mortgage. Then I will not have such a stressed out time in this rat race.

$170,000 got me a nice small house, an acre of land, 125' of open water lake front and a boathouse with lift an hour outside of Dallas and there's more than enough work here in the area for a contractor/electrician, ****, I can even help you out with that probably especially if you have any school experience.

Take a long look at the Texas Hill Country as mentioned above. This place is full of Californians that left for greener pastures. Medina lake is possibly the prettiest lake in TX and is 30 minutes from downtown San Antonio. The TX Triangle ( vast area between Austin, San Antonio and Houston) is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Austin also has several great lakes. $400,-$500, will buy a very comfortable place on Medina Lake. Only drawback (for some) is Medina is not a constant level lake. I view that as a HUGE positive in most years.

The stable government and economy are the main reasons, along with the climate ofcourse and relatively good prices, that many foreigners move here.
Because of all the foreigners moving here there's a lot of construction going on so you should be able to keep yourself busy.
