    Wake the World

Anyone ever done one of these? They are coming here to Canyon Lake in July. I signed up as a volunteer with my boat. I believe this is the first one in Texas, but they have had at least one in North Carolina before.

From their website: Wake the World is a non profit charitable organization that provides watersports oppurtuinities to local Children's Homes. Whether it's wakeboarding , wake surfing, kneeboarding, water skiing, tubing, swimming or just hanging out in a boat, that's what we are providing for these kids that normally would not have the oppurtunity. Our events are possible because of big hearted supporters. Currently 100% of all funds donated are used for expenses directly related to our events. We have no paid staff, everyone is a volunteer. We use office space from my business to manage WTW, so there are no office expenses.

I'd do it, I'd give my time and boat to help these kids out. (I'd drive of course and their would be some releases signed incase of an accident beyond my control)

I have been helping Greg Hodgin since we started this two years ago here in NC. Its a pretty fun experience that means a lot to the kids and everyone else involved. If you have any specific questions feel free to contact me on here.

So far this year it looks like we will be taking out over 150 kids here in two days and its coming up in less than 2 weeks.

I am really glad to see it starting to grow so much. When we began it was only like 6 or 7 boats and two childrens homes, but this year we are looking at 15/16 boats each day and 4-5 organizations total now.

Just got an Email from Ryan Caroll this morning. He is still looking for some more boats.

                              Email from Ryan:

                              Hi Everyone,

First I want to say thank you to all of you for volunteering your boat and time to come out and give some deserving kids a great memory. I just got back from Wake the World in North Carolina and have seen first hand how this day effects these kids in a positive way. The only way to describe it is "Life Changing". Only two of the kids that will be at our event have been on a boat. The rest have never. Can you imagine?

I wanted to email and give you a few details and requests about Wake the World at Canyon Lake July 19th:

                              1) Here is a map to the venue: http://maps.google.com/places/us/tx/...ion-park?gl=us
                              2) Please be prepared to arrive and have your boat in the water by 8:30 am and be at the event until roughly 7:00 pm
                              3) Please bring a cooler, we will provide Ice and bottled water for your boat
                              4) Please bring enough life jackets for 7 people for your boat
                              5) Please bring any extra water toys you have: Wakeboards, Kneeboards, Wakesufers, Tubes, Double skis

If you have one, please send me a picture of your boat. This will help our volunteers identify your boat as you are leaving and returning with kids. Also, we have people coming from all over so I would like to have a conference call with everyone to give you a chance to ask any questions you might have. I will send the details for that in another email. Feel free to reply to this email or call me with questions or concerns. I am looking for a couple more wakeboard boats. If you know anyone interested please let me know.

Again, thank you so much for volunteering, I promise this will be an event you will never forget!

                              Ryan
