winching in San Diego and So Cal

My buddy just finished up a winch, but we don't use it all that much because we don't know any spots. I live in San Diego and ride Mission Bay often. I imagine there are some spots at the smaller local lakes or maybe SD Bay. Unfortunately, there're isn't much water here so it seems spots are hard to come by let me know if anybody knows of anything worth looking into.
