    CO Snow Skiing

Skied Breckenridge over New Years and considering another quick trip for late Feb. or early March - any updates on conditions in the Rockies - Vail, BC, Breck, Keystone, Aspen?

How about some cool pix from this season?

        RE: CO Snow Skiing

Broke my pole on first run that day and bent the one in the piicture. Didn't want to stop to g get a new one. We were staying mid-mountain off the Four Oclock run, hated to stop a good day to go down into town just for a set of poles. I was surprised, you can get by without them quite easily if needed.

I hadn't made the connection with the color scheme. I bet the helmet would work ok in the boat, but the parka may get in the way. Ha, ha.

          Cool pic,

I am guessing that was probably taken far skiers left off of peak 7. How is the new terrain off of 7 with the new lift. I have skied breck many times but have not been since the new lift was put in.

Devils Crotch......steep moguls on a narrow slope.....good fun for all.

You nailed it, far left off of peak 7!! That is a pretty good call Brandon. The terrain is good back country skiing - the trees are good through the center of Peak 7, but the far left is a bit too wooded for good break away powder skiing. Stay off of 7 when there is a strong NW wind. The wind blows the snow off of the left side exposing sharp rocks and the lift is a bear into the wind - same with the Colorado lift on Peak 8. The back side off the T bar is good most all of the time and D' Crotch is always well protected from sun and wind - jsut make sure you make it back to Peak 8 and the 4 oclock before 4 pm. The snowflake mid lift usually stays open a little later if you get stuck coming off of 9.

Breck is cool, but like Vail, too much skatin' peak to peak. The cat tracks get pretty loaded with bodies and make it tough to get where you want to go.

Good fun when the water is cold!

Yeah I agree with ya breck is one of my favorate places to ski....or at least it was until vail went and bought it out. I have not been there in 2 years. The last time I was there it was way too crowded...even mid week. We started skiing parts of the mountain like the backside of peak 10 (mustang, darkrider ect), lift 6, the windows off of peak 9 (good tree run) and I have even hiked peak 7 before to avoid the lift lines.

While you were out there did you hear any talk of the new lift from the top of lift 6 to the top of peak 8. Now that would open up some narly terrain.
