Do any of you have a solar panel setup on your boat lift? I'm getting tired of having to connect/disconnect the cable in the boat to raise and lower the boat lift. I have been looking at the solar panel setup that is offered by Floe and want to install something similar on my lift.
However, it appears the kit sold by Floe is just a panel and nothing more. I want to avoid over-charging the battery if I'm out of town for a week or more, so I figured the best route to go would be using a voltage regulator, but I have no idea what is needed in terms of size/output/etc.
Any suggestions on where to find a good regulator? I plan on just building everything myself since it appears it will be cheaper to buy all the parts individually and to weld together the base and mounting tray for the battery (so I am trying to avoid buying a "all-in-one" package from a retailer).
I have a Floe electric winch lift (4500lb capacity I believe), and would like to use a single 12v deep cycle battery mounted onto the lift permanently. Any info you guys can share would be greatly appreciated!
