Which video editing software to use?

I'm looking to buy a video editing software package for Windows. I've been using freebie stuff and run out of horsepower and format convertors.

    Any suggestions? for or against.

Windows live movie maker works well for me. I think it requires Windows 7 OS. You can download it from windows website.

I have used: Sony Vegas, Pinnacle, Power Director, and Premiere. Key is to pick one and stick with as the learning curve sucks on most... Esp Adobe..... Running Pinnacle HD right now....

I can't believe how long ago I started this thread. I bought the Pinnacle 15 and installed on an XP desktop and used for a long time.
Then one day...it disappears after starting up. I reinstalled - same problem.

I try to open a ticket and learn avid is bought out and no support. wtf?

Anybody else have the same problem and was able to fix it?

I upgraded to Pinnacle 16 (supported by Corel); had many issues with the Avid versions; 16 is much better
